Havana, January 28 (RHC)-- Ousmane Dembélé was injured in today's match against Girona in the Spanish soccer league. The attacker had to be substituted in the first half, feeling discomfort in his left leg after a sprint in the dispute of the ball with a rival defender.

Dembélé had to stop the run and after a few minutes on the pitch testing himself to see if he could continue he asked for the change. Pedri came on in his place in the 26th minute of the match.

The Frenchman did not go to the dressing room but stayed on the bench. Since Xavi arrived at Barcelona, the player had hardly been injured. His last injury took place in November 2021, just when the new coach arrived, but once recovered he had not had any further mishaps until this Sunday.

The club issued a statement at half-time of the match in which it indicated that the player had a quadriceps injury in his left leg. The club did not give any further details and referred to some tests that the player will undergo when he returns to Barcelona.

Seeing how he limped when he returned to the bench, the injury does not look good. In the first scan the estimated time off will be about three weeks and would arrive very close to the first leg against United.
