Havana, February 24 (RHC)--The Santiago de Cuba team will try to defend its undefeated record today at the start of the third sub series in the men's Superior Basketball League (LSB), a tournament in which they have four consecutive victories.
The Santiagueros will visit the reigning champions of Ciego de Avila (3-1) at the Giraldo Cordova Cardin Hall, in what should be two very interesting duels this Friday and Saturday.
Both teams won twice against their respective rivals in the second sub-series of the competition, the indomitous ones against Artemisa and the Avileños against Las Tunas.
Also today and tomorrow the teams of Villa Clara (3-1) and Sancti Spíritus (2-2), the Tunas (0-4) against Mayabeque (1-3), and the Artemiseños (0-4) against Capitalinos (3-1) will face each other, always on the field of the former.
So far, the Artemisa and Las Tunas teams are the only ones that have not been able to win in the young competition, so they need to get out of this bad streak as soon as possible.
On Wednesday, among the important events, the Santiagueros defeated the Artemiseños 96-85 in overtime, to achieve their fourth success in a row.
Likewise, the representatives of Havana put an end to Villa Clara's undefeated record at the Amistad Hall in the center of the country, with a 74-60 scoreboard, to take revenge for what happened the day before when the Villaclareños won 83-77 and cut short the perfect performance of the Havana team.
In the case of the Mayabequenses, debutants in the LSB, they defeated the espirituanos, second place finishers in the last edition, 73-66, to achieve their first victory in the history of the tournament.
