Venezuela's vice president closes the 5th ALBA Sports Games ​

Caracas, April 30 (RHC)-- Venezuelan Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez closed this Saturday the fifth edition of the ALBA Games, at the 'Jose Baracasa' Gymnasium, United Nations Park, El Paraiso, Libertador municipality, in Caracas.

 

At a full house, in the facility with capacity for 6,100 spectators, Rodriguez evoked the dreams of Commanders Fidel Castro (1926-2016) and Hugo Chavez (1954-2013) regarding the union of the peoples of the region.

Rodriguez thanked the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean involved in the organization of the event and congratulated the athletes, coaches, technicians and federation members who attended the fair, considered a celebration of unity, coexistence and peace among sister nations, and declared it officially concluded after nine days of action in Caracas, La Guaira and Miranda.

Venezuela led the medal tally with 225 gold, 254 silver and 226 bronze medals, followed by Cuba (76-65-53) and the guest nation Russia (30-22-9), respectively.

The awards to the Venezuelan, Cuban and Russian delegations were presented by the Vice President of Venezuela, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Melvin Maldonado, and the Executive Secretary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of the Americas-People's Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), Felix Plasencia.
