Bogota, June 6 (RHC)-- The V Parapan American Youth Games Bogota 2023 are underway in the Colombian nation, where more than 700 para-athletes are taking part in the event that will take place until next June 12th.
The organizers confirmed that the delegations of the 20 registered countries are made up of 739 para-athletes and 58 field assistants (guides in athletics, soccer for the blind and boccia). The delegations represent the Dominican Republic, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Paraguay, Honduras, Argentina, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama, Brazil, Jamaica, Aruba, El Salvador, Uruguay, Cuba and Colombia.
Also in the Colombian capital are 438 officials, including medical, administrative and managerial staff, as well as sports ministers from six countries, 17 heads of national Paralympic committees and around 1,000 volunteers.
The 12 sports categories are made up of pc soccer, soccer for the blind, para-swimming, para-athletics, para-tennis, table tennis, wheelchair tennis, sitting volleyball, judo, wheelchair basketball, volleyball, boccia and para-powerlifting.
The competitions are being held in eight sports facilities: Palacio de los Deportes de Bogotá, Simón Bolívar Aquatic Complex, El Salitre Coliseum, Compensar Synthetic Courts, Bogotá High Performance Center, UDS Athletics Track and Field, Campincito Stadium and Cayetano Cañizares Coliseum.
