Cuban and Argentinian teams on equal footing in volleyball top table

Havana, June 13 (JIT) - The women's volleyball teams of Cuba and Argentina have one win apiece in the friendly match they are holding in different cities of that South American nation.

In the opening match, the Antillean women won 25-23, 25-19, 20-25 and 25-17 in the city of Oncativo. According to the website of the Argentinean federation of this sport, the first two sets were very even, although in the second one the Cubans were more effective to take a decisive advantage.

In the next set, the so-called Panteras Argetinas reacted quickly in front of their home crowd, with an early 10-6 difference. Cuba regained the lead to lead 12-11, but again the hosts tightened and got the partial success.

After a point-to-point battle, in the fourth segment the Argentines were ahead until the visitors took a 13-10 lead, advanced to 16-12 and never lost control of the challenge.

The top scorers of the duel were Ailama Cesé and Diaris Pérez with 22 and 20 points, in that order, the only ones with double digits. Jessica Aguilera contributed eight, Claudia Tarín six, setter Gretell Moreno six and Dayana Martínez five.

The group of 15 players, 12 of which will participate in the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023, is completed by Whitney James, Sulian Matienzo, Dezirett Madan, Yalain de la Peña, Thalía Moreno, Ellemay Santa Miranda, Ivys May Vila, Laura Suárez and Yensy Kindelán.

For Argentina, Yamila Nizetich (15), Erika Mercado (12), Bianca Cugno (12) and Daniela Bulaich (10) achieved double figures.

In the second match, held on Sunday night in Villa Maria, the Panthers won with continuous partials of 27-25, 25-18 and 25-19.

Dezirett Madan (14) and Dayana Martinez (13) were the most productive of the match, while Daniea Bulaich (12) was the top scorer for the local team.

The next matches are scheduled for June 13 in the city of Rosario, June 15 in Rafaela and June 17 in Cordova. They will be broadcasted by TyC Sports and DEPORTV, as announced by the Feva website.
