Leyanis Perez to lead in the Oslo Diamond League

Havana, June 14 (RHC) - Triathlete Leyanis Perez will be the only figure with the endorsement of the Cuban Athletics Federation present this Thursday at the fifth stop of the Diamond League in Oslo (Norway).

Fourth at the last World Championships in Eugene -2022 and Ibero-American champion, also last year, the talented 21-year-old athlete is going through a spectacular season, in which she achieved the best result of her outdoor career in triple jump (14.84m 1.1m/s), in Rabat, and also in long jump (6.52m 0.0m/s), in Havana, in both cases last May.

For the Pinar del Río native, registered in the triple jump and long jump at the nearby Centrocaribes in San Salvador, it will be her fourth outdoor event of the season in the triple jump, all of them with marks over 14.65m.

Now in Oslo, Ricardo Ponce's student and second on the world list will face several of the world's top triple jumpers, among them Yulimar Rojas, who has just made her debut in Madrid with 14.96m, a leap that moved her to the top of the world ranking.

Other registered athletes are Jamaicans Rickett and Williams, American Orji and Ukrainian Romanchuk.

The sprinter Reynier Mena, who competes independently of the Cuban Federation, will also take part in the 200m, an event in which he ran 19.95 seconds on May 24 in Savona.

In addition to Venezuela's Yulimar, local star Karsten Warholm (400m hurdles), Sweden's Armand Duplantis (pole vault), Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen (1500m), Wayde Van Niekerk (400m), Valerie Allman and Sandra Perkovic (discus), and Miltiadis Tentoglou (long jump), all Olympic champions, have also been announced.
