Havana, June 19 (RHC) - Due to last-minute non-compliance by the construction company, the new venue for the beach volleyball tournament of the San Salvador 2023 Central Caribbean Games will not be ready for this Wednesday and the competition will change its venue to Playa Costa del Sol.
This was informed to Radio Habana Cuba by the technical delegate of the beach volleyball competition, Ariel Sainz, who recalled that among the great attractions announced for the games was to hold the beach volleyball and beach soccer tournaments on the heights of a building in the Salvadoran capital.
"At the last minute it will not be possible to hold beach volleyball there and we decided to change to a natural setting, such as Playa Costa de Sol, just over 50 km from the capital," said Saínz.
The federation official regretted the fact and apologized for the inconvenience caused to the delegations participating in the beach volleyball tournament of the regional event, but assured that the rest remains as planned, with the start on Wednesday 21 with a long day of 24 matches, two days before the official opening.
The always attractive beach volleyball competition of the San Salvador Games will extend until the 27th.
The tournament will feature the top pairs from several of the 37 countries in the region and Cuba will rely on its top two pairs in each gender, Noslen Diaz and Jorge Luis Alayo, in the men's category, and Amanda Armenteros and Yenifer Rivera, in the women's category.
