Athletes to the San Salvador 2023 Games return home to Cuba

Havana, July 10 (JIT) - The last part of the Cuban delegation that participated in the Dominican Republic, the sub-host of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador 2023, returned home to Cuba, headed by the gold medalists in canoeing and taekwondo.

In addition, the field field hockey athletes, bronze medalists, together with coaches, federation officials and referees, were received at the José Martí International Airport by Raúl Fornés Valenciano, first vice president of Inder; Eric Gutiérrez, national director of recreation; and Reinier Olivera, director of the branch school of the sports organization.

In his welcoming remarks, Olivera expressed his gratitude for the meritorious third place achieved by the Cuban delegation in these Games and because they have transmitted to our people feelings of joy, dedication and commitment.

He congratulated everyone for the medals won and those who did not win them as well, because they demonstrated during the competitions everything they had acquired during the preparation stage.

The Central Caribbean taekwondo champion, Rafael Alba, on behalf of the athletes, said that it has been a great honor for them to represent the country and the flag, as well as to return with their heads held high for the results of the regional event.

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a charter flight from El Salvador also returned to the homeland with representatives of swimming, cycling, chess, badminton, triathlon, roller skating, field tennis and water polo.

In the next few hours, the rest of the Cuban delegation that has so worthily represented the island in the San Salvador 2023 Central American Games will arrive.
