Havana, October 22 (PL) -- The second gold medal for Cuba at the Pan American Games Santiago de Chile 2023 came today through shooter Leurys Pupo, in the 25-meter air pistol rapid fire modality.
The London 2012 Olympic champion beat Venezuelan Douglas Gomez, silver medalist with 26 points, while the bronze medal went to American Henry Leverett, who compiled 23 points. Pupo won the final with a total of 30 points.
The largest of the Antilles now has two titles and ranks fifth by countries behind Brazil (four), Canada (five), Mexico (eight) and the United States (10), in that order.
Cuba also won a silver medal on Sunday through cyclist Arlenis Sierra, who finished second in the time trial.
