Havana, October 29 (RHC)-- Three Cuban boxers won this Saturday in the first date of the V World Boxing Cup of Cologne 2023, in Germany, scheduled to last until October 31st.
Erislandy Alvarez (63 kg), Jorge Soto (80 kg) and Rolando Martinez (57 kg) were successful in a fight in which the Cubans are looking for international exposure.
Alvarez, silver medalist at the world championship in Tashkent 2023, defeated Denmark's Abdallah Abou Arab 5-0. Soto won 3-2 over the English Ramtin Musah and Martinez 4-1 against the also British Jack Dryden.
Adonis Bell (+92 kg), Karen Cantillo (54 kg), Melani de la Caridad Girado (57 kg) and Juliannet Diaz (60 kg) lost their respective bouts.
"They are all doing well, they are fulfilling their programs here," coach Robinson Poll, who is leading the small delegation, highlighted to JIT.
Nelson Williams (92 kg) and Giovis Salfrán (51 kg) have yet to make their debuts, who will surely do so this Sunday at the events hall of the Maritim Hotel Colonia, venue of the fight. All of them did a training base in the city of Heidelberg, prior to the Cup.
The delegation also includes coach Emiliano Chirino, Maikel Martínez and doctor Armando Cámara. Representatives from Australia, Mongolia, Sweden, Canada, Belgium and Finland are attending the event, although the largest presence is from home with more than 20 boxers.
