Santiago de Chile, November 3 (RHC) - Press media and experts highlighted Friday the performance of Cuba's 4x100 fem relay at the continental games in Santiago de Chile.

With a young quartet, Cuba returned to the top of the podium in the spectacular event after 26 years, to sign one of the unforgettable notes of the island's athletics here in Santiago 2023.

Although the time of 43.17 achieved when they were crowned in San Salvador 2023 could not be improved, the most important thing was the conquest of the title.

The only time a relay from the island had been crowned in this event was in Winnipeg 67.
The performance of the girls of José Feliciano Bilirs "el Bili" delighted and I reiterate, without measuring the result, because it is true that the rivals were not of much consideration, progress is noticeable.

Laura Moreira, Enis Perez, Yarima Garcia and Yunisleidy Garcia Abreu go down in history as the second Cuban champion in the Pan American Games in the 4x100, where the island now has 10 medals (2-7-1).

Before Thursday's achievement, only Marcia Garbey, Violeta Quesada, Cristina Echevarría and the great Miguelina Cobián had reached the top of the podium 26 years ago.
In addition, the last time a Cuban 4x100 women's relay had reached a podium at continental level was in the distant Santo Domingo 2003, when Dainelky Perez, Roxana Diaz, Virgen Benavides and Misleidis Lazo took the subtitle.
