Ciego de Avila, November 16 (Jit) - A series of sports and recreational activities are being developed in Ciego de Avila with popular participation as the protagonist, motivated by the celebrations of the Physical Education and Sports Day, of which the territory will be the national headquarters.
These actions began on November 4 with an exhibition at the Antonio "Ñico" García Portal Sports History Hall, in honor of the centenary of José Ramón Fernández.
They will be extended until November 30 with the execution of the elite marathon Cruce de la Trocha, said Leonardo Rodríguez Sánchez, provincial director of Inder, in a press conference.
The central activities will be held in three main moments. On Thursday, a political and cultural gala will be held at the Sala Techada Giraldo Córdova Cardín to recognize the best workers in the sector and outstanding athletes.
On Friday morning, the José Ramón Cepero stadium will host the national event, in which people of different age groups will participate in a group of sports and physical culture events.
The event will be presided over by the main executives of Inder, the National Union of Education, Science and Sports Workers, and political and governmental leaders.
On November 18, starting at 8:30 a.m., a large recreational sports festival will be held, which will include a race organized by the Marabana-Maracuba project, starting and finishing at José Martí Park in the capital city.
In the city of Ciego de Avila, at the same time, there will be a series of activities including a simultaneous chess game, traditional games and sports demonstrations in 16 areas.
The closing of the festivities is scheduled for Thursday, November 30, with the start and finish line of the elite marathon Cruce de la Trocha, of a competitive nature, which will also link the disciplines of skating and cycling, in which athletes from other provinces are expected to participate.
