Rome, November 20 (PL)-- Serbian Novak Djokovic became the most decorated tennis player in the history of ATP finals after beating host Jannik Sinner to win his seventh title in the so-called Masters Final.

Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam champion, overwhelmed the 22-year-old 6-3, 6-3 in one hour and 43 minutes, having defeated him earlier in the week in the same match in the group stage.

The Balkan is also the oldest man (36 years old) to win the tournament and the only one to have captured the title in three different decades.

He is very special. This is one of the best seasons I've ever had in my life, without a doubt. To crown it with a win against the local hero, who has played unbelievable tennis this week, is phenomenal, Djokovic told TennisTV.

For his part, Sinner finishes his season with 12 wins over the top 10 players on the planet and 61 in total, the most ever by an Italian player in the ATP Tour's Open Era.

He is also the first racquet player under the age of 23 to reach the final of the season-ending event without losing a match since the legendary Swiss Roger Federer, with whom Nole shared the record as the top winner of these events in 2003.
