Havana, November 21 (JIT) -- The Cuban senior national team lost 0-8 to Russia at the Volgograd Arena, in a match corresponding to the last Fifa date of the year.

Head coach Yunielys Castillo once again used the ultra-defensive 5-4-1 design, but could not avoid Russia's full control of the midfield and, consequently, the repeated arrivals to the area.

Raico Arozarena's goal was harassed throughout the 90 minutes. Three goals were scored in the first half and another five in the second half by Silyanov, Miranchuk, Prutsev, Krivtsov, Mostovoy, Golovin, Oblyakov and Sobolov.

The game showed not only the competitive but also the physical superiority of the Russian team, whose coach Valeri Karpin fielded several of his top players playing in Europe.

The statistics speak for themselves: the Russians took 29 shots, 19 of which were on target. Cuba had just three shots wide of the goal.
