Havana, December 10 (JIT) -- Erlis Casanova defeated Industriales 3x1 on Saturday in the II Elite League of Cuban Baseball, a result that meant his 100th victory in this sport's tournaments on the island.

Casanova worked a complete game in the first of Artemisa's two games against the Leones. He allowed one clean run and six hits, while striking out two opponents and not giving out tickets.

With him, there are now 81 pitchers with at least 100 wins in the national series, a list headed by Pedro Luis Lazo (257).

This Saturday's is the only clean sheet that Casanova admits in 27 innings of performance in the Elite League, which moved him to the top of the effectiveness ranking (0.33).

Son of one of the best players of this sport born in Cuba, Luis Giraldo Casanova, Erlis is a native of Pinar del Rio and was called to reinforce the Artemisa staff in the current tournament.

He has a WHIP of 0.96 and his opponents are batting just .204, data that confirms him among the best hitters in the League.

On that day, Industriales also hit back against Artemisa (6x2), Las Tunas knocked out Matanzas (10x0) and Sancti Spíritus overcame Santiago de Cuba (4x3).

Matanzas leads the standings with 16-11, followed by Sancti Spíritus (15-12), Artemisa (14-13), Las Tunas (14-13), Industriales (13-14) and Santiago de Cuba (9-18).
