Havana, December 10 (PL) -- Girona reconquered the top of the Spanish soccer league with a 4-2 away victory over FC Barcelona, the reigning champion.
In a duel of Catalan teams, Girona was far superior to its opponent throughout the match, to the point of winning the game with a bigger advantage.
The winning goals were scored by Ukrainian Artem Dovbyk, in the 12th minute, Miguel Gutiérrez (40th), Valery Fernández (80th) and Uruguayan Christian Stuani (95th).
For Barcelona, Poland's Robert Lewandowski (19th) and Germany's Ilkay Gundogan (92nd) saved the honors.
With this victory, Girona reached 41 points and moved to the first position in the general classification, two points ahead of its main opponent in the championship, Real Madrid (39), which yesterday drew with Betis, 1-1.
FC Barcelona, meanwhile, was left out of the battle for the League, officially in fourth position, with 34 points, the same as Atletico Madrid, although the capital's team has one game less played.
