Havana, December 21 (Prensa Latina) -- The showcase of Cuban wrestler Luis Orta dawned today overflowing with awards when he received the award for Best Greco-Roman Wrestler of the Year, granted by the World Union of that sport.

The Havana native, Olympic champion in Tokyo 2020, has shown no mercy to his rivals and has won everything this season in his 67-kilogram division.

In January, he began his career with a 7-2 victory over host Tigran Galustyan in the Henri Deglane Grand Prix de Lucha, held in Nice, France.

His record grew in September when he won the World Championship in Belgrade, defeating Hasrat Jafarov of Azerbaijan 4-3 in a heart-stopping final.

A month earlier he had won the gold metal at the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador and topped off his performance in November at the Pan American Games in Chile, where he also swept all his opponents.

For all these achievements he was selected by the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder) as the Best Cuban Athlete of the Year and the vast majority of the continent's media have given him their vote in the annual Prensa Latina sports survey.
