The Leones defeated Sancti Spíritus 4x2 on Wednesday, a result that confirmed them as the second team to qualify for the post-season, behind leader Matanzas.
The victory was consummated in the fourth inning, when a defensive error and a two-run rocket by Roberto Acevedo sealed the game.
Starter Islay Sotolongo signed his fourth success of the tournament with two failures, after five and a third innings in which he did not allow any hits and gave up four tickets. Closer Juan Xavier Peñalver earned his fifth save point.
The Azules dominated the overall match against the Gallos 6x2 and share second place in the standings with Artemisa, four games behind Matanzas.
