Paris, January 8 (PL) -- French President Emmanuel Macron today launched the countdown to 200 days before the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which he promised as the most "decarbonized" in history.

They will be green games that will respect the Paris agreements (on climate change) and parity, with the same number of male and female athletes, Macron said in a video, which will surely circulate on social networks and published in advance this Monday by the RMC Sport channel.

Dressed in sports attire, in particular as a boxer, the president said that more than 70 French collectivities will host the summer event under the five rings, "from Paris to Marseille, through Tahiti".

The 33rd Olympic Games, the third to be organized by the City of Light after those of 1900 and 1924, will be held from July 26 to August 11, while the Paralympic Games will take place from August 28 to September 8.

Macron showed his expectation that the French delegation will win many medals and pointed out that the great national cause of this year is sport.

That is why I invite everyone to do at least 30 minutes a day of sport, because it is good for health and for many things, he stressed.

The French capital is planning an unprecedented inauguration of the Olympic Games, outside a stadium, with the Seine River as protagonist and around 400 thousand spectators on its banks, 100 thousand with paid tickets and the rest free of charge.
