Sancti Spíritus, January 10 (ACN)-- Delivery, talent and a lot of exchange enjoyed by the public, was evidenced in the second poster of the inaugural date of the national boxing tournament Playa Girón, whose 60th edition takes place in the Yayabo hall, in this city.

There were 13 fights. In the best of them all, Rolando Martinez (GTM, 57 kgs), gold medalist in the World Cup in Cologne, Germany 2023, defeated Raicel Moncada (CMG), bronze medalist in the previous Playa Giron, 4-0 (a referee gave it a draw).

With a very even first round, both were involved in two final rounds full of exchanges, in which Moncada threw more, but Martinez knew how to take advantage of his mistakes in the punching and counterpunching.

He (Moncada) is very experienced and my tactical plan was to move with quick entries and exits to the attacking area, with my hand always in front. The division is strong, but I hope to reach the final, Martinez told ACN.

Another enjoyed fight was the victory of the host Osvaldo Diaz (57), bronze in the previous edition, by 5-0 against Lazaro Barreto (MTZ), to whom he gave two protection counts. But they never asked for a truce. The rival showed no escape and there was a rich exchange.

And in another attractive duel, Luis Vinent (SCU, 63 kgs) closed with accurate punches in the third round to silence the audience and beat the local Arnaldo Vega 3-2.
