Havana, February 7 (RHC) - Cuban triple jumper Leyanis Pérez had a dream day at the Mondeville Athletic Meeting (France), improving twice the world record of the year, the record of the event and her personal best indoors.

Aged 22 and bronze medalist at the Budapest-2023 World Championships, Leyanis showed impressive stability on Wednesday and improved the aforementioned records twice, with 14.85m on his first attempt and 14.86 on his fifth.

"He was very stable. He is walking very well emotionally and physically and today he told me that he felt good and we were able to rest and train well before competing," his trainer, Ricardo Ponce, told Radio Havana Cuba from Mondeville.

He stressed that they have made "some adjustments" and his pupil has improved speed and strength parameters. "That takes time to adapt, it pays off, but at the beginning it is difficult to coordinate. Technically we have to keep improving the fall, but we are doing well and we hope to celebrate the 15 at the Olympic Games," he added.

With both marks she surpassed the mark of the year (14.60), which was held by Tea Lafond (Dominica), as well as the 14.48 that she herself had set last year as the French record. At the same time, she also improved the 14.65 that she had set as her personal best indoors since last year in Lievin (France)
