Anisley and Prisis
Havana, March 18 (JIT) - Cuba closed this Sunday its participation in the Eurasian Diving Cup of Yekaterinburg 2024, in Russia, with two bronze medals.
The pair formed by Anisley García and Prisis Leydis Ruiz placed third in the synchronized diving from three meters with a score of 269.10 points, only surpassed by the host duos of Ilinykh-Kuzina (297.00) and Kazantseva-Trifonov (284.70).
From the competition's headquarters, the national diving commissioner, Milagros González, praised the performance of the Caribbean women, who are in the midst of preparing for their possible presence at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
"We were very pleased to see them compete here, because they continue to do very well, despite the fact that they are at a stage of preparation that is not designed to take on the most rigorous competitions," the director ratified.
Anisley and Prisis achieved very good performances in the platform and the three-meter springboard, respectively, in the recent world aquatic sports competition. As a result, they are in the qualification zone for Paris 2024 and are waiting for the official lists to be announced in June, although specialists consider that their absence in the French capital would be a big surprise.
The Cubans' farewell to the Eurasian Cup was also marked by the conquest of a bronze metal in the team event, which does not appear in the Olympic program, but is usual in the world's competitions and other international competitions.
"It was a nice closing because it is an event in which collective work stands out", Milagros acknowledged about the event that groups two women and an equal number of men in each team.
The rules establish that each contestant performs two jumps from the platform and a similar number on the trampoline from three meters. One of these executions is included among the so-called compulsory ones -invariable degree of difficulty of 2.0- and the other one is free to choose the level of complexity.
The Cuban quartet, made up of Anisley, Prisis, Carlos Daniel Ramos and Frank Abel Rosales, came in behind the two main local representatives.
The exponents of the Island said goodbye to the Yekaterinburg competition with a silver medal and four bronze medals. In addition, they return home with official invitations to participate in the Brics Games in Kazan 2024 and the World Friendship Games in Russia 2024, scheduled in June and September, in that order.
