Havana, May 23 (JIT).- Cuban pitcher Raidel Martínez continued unbeatable in the Japanese Baseball League by maintaining his impeccable earned run average and achieving his 13th save of the campaign, leading in that department.

Before more than 14,000 fans gathered at the Tokyo Dome, the right-hander from the province of Pinar del Río - west of the capital - retired the three batters he faced in a row, two of them by strikeout, to shore up the 4-2 victory for the Chunichi Dragons against the hosts Yumiuri Giants.

With that performance, the 27-year-old rescuer extended his streak to 20 and a third innings without allowing a score, a journey in which he has accumulated 18 strikeouts and just a couple of walks.

Chunichi is in fifth place in the Central League with a negative balance of 17-21, and more than 47 percent of its wins have been preserved by Raidel Martínez, who holds the lead in both circuits.

The other Cuban who had action on the day was Ariel Martínez, who hit a double in five opportunities and drove in a run to contribute to the 5-4 victory of his Nippon Ham Fighters over the Orix Buffaloes.
