Cuba's Fernando Arzola to the round of 16 in the Bangkok Boxing Pre-Olympic

Bangkok, May 29 (PL) -- Cuba's Fernando Arzola qualified today for the round of 16 of the Bangkok Boxing Pre-Olympic, the last qualifier heading to Paris 2024, after beating the Mexican Javier Cruz, in the 92 kilogram division.

Arzola managed to win without any setbacks, by unanimous decision of the judges 5-0.

In his next presentation, the Caribbean will clash against the Mongolian Byeknur Khali, executioner of the Dominican Charles Delroy.

Also in the 92 kg category, the Ecuadorian Gerlon Congo beat the Indian Narender Narender 3-2 this Wednesday, and the Colombian Willys Mendoza beat the Congolese Gilbert Kabamba 3-2.

Congo and Mendoza will be rivals in the round of 16 stage of this pre-Olympic.

In the 66 kg women's sector, meanwhile, the Mexican Gricelda Durán and the Cuban Yakelín Estornell lost their respective fights against Ivanusa Moreira, from Cape Verde, and the Canadian Sara Kali, respectively.

Likewise, the Colombian Camila Gabriela Camilo Bravo beat the Montenegrin Tamara Radunovic 5-0, while the Puerto Rican Stephanie Piñeiro fell 0-5 against the Indian Arundhati Choudhary.

This boxing pre-Olympic, the last qualifier heading to Paris 2024, is held in Bangkok, from May 24 to June 2, with 51 quotas at stake – 23 in women and 28 in men.
