Havana, June 5 (ACN) --The Vegueros of Pinar del Río continued unstoppable as they began the week with a loss of combat, to continue partying at the top in the LXIII National Baseball Series and being one game away from achieving their official classification to the postseason.

With a score of 10-0 in seven innings, the Westerners knocked out the Guantanamo Indians, supported by home runs from Luis Pablo Acosta, Tailon Sánchez and Yaser Julio González, the latter's 15th of the season.

Together they drove in nine runs to support the work of Mario Valle, who walked the entire route with just three hits allowed to win his fourth game of the campaign.

Randi Salazar was defeated in a start of only 1.2 innings where he supported a total of six clean runs.

In the Julio Antonio Mella of Las Tunas the Lumberjacks of that province, current national champions, left the Leones de Industriales lying on the field with a score of 7-6 and remained in second place in the standings.

An unstoppable hit by Yudier Rondón put an end to a challenge in which his team overcame a six-run deficit, thanks to a powerful attack of 20 hits.

Rondón scored four of them, as did Yordanis Alarcón, while Rafael Viñales disappeared a ball out of the park.

Rubén Rodríguez took the credit in a four-inning relay where he allowed only one run and Yandi Molina took the fall by allowing the score that defined the clash.

The Wasps of Santiago de Cuba once again embraced the fourth place with the capital's team by defeating the Cazadores de Artemisa 10-3, a team that despite three failures in a row still remains in the qualifying zone.

Euclides Pérez and Adriel Labrada homered, the latter driving in a trio of runs, the same ones that Eduardo García drove with a pair of singles and an equal number of doubles.

Danny Betancourt worked five acts to record his 167th victory in the National Series and Yoendris Montero pitched the rest to earn the save.

In other confrontations Ciego de Ávila fell 6-2 to Cienfuegos with the first home run of his career by Yosimar Quintana and Matanzas could not beat Holguín and succumbed 13-6 in a fight where the winners enjoyed two home runs from Luis Santiesteban and one from Yasiel Gonzalez.

Finally, Villa Clara led Mayabeque 3-1 despite the complete return hit by Yoasan Guillén and Sancti Spiritus of Camagüey with the same score, thanks to a great pitch work by Yohanny Hernández and the eighth save by Yankiel Mauri

Due to delays in the transportation of the Pirates of La Isla team to Bayamese lands, the agreed match against the Alazanes of Granma could not be held.

After Tuesday's results, Pinar remains at the top (42-21), followed by Las Tunas (2.5), Granma (3.5) and Industriales and Santiago, both at 6.
