Havana, June 5 (JIT).- The Cubans participating in the Munich 2024 Rifle and Pistol World Cup, in Germany, were far from individual awards in their respective specialties.

In the fair, which this Tuesday closed its fourth competitive date, medals were awarded in the 10-meter air rifle categories for each sex, 25-meter pistol for women, and 10-meter air rifle for mixed teams.

The rapid shooting at 25 meters for men brought together 65 contestants. In the first round of qualifications, Cuban Olympic champion Leuris Pupo earned 293 points, and his teammate Jorge Félix Álvarez finished with 289.

This Tuesday the second round was held and Jorge Félix, with a total of 586 lines, finished eighth, a few steps away from the grand final. Pupo finished in 38th place with 573 units.

Locals Florian Peter and Christian Reitz; Xinjie Wang and Yuehong Li, from China; Clement Bessaguet, from France, and the Czech Matej Rampula will face each other in the battle for the medals.

Cuban Lisbet Hernández placed 107th among women during the 10-meter air rifle event, with a score of 622.0 points. China's Yuting Huang (252.7) climbed to the top of the awards podium, followed by South Korea's Hyojin Ban (252.6) and Jiayu Han (231.4), also from the Asian Giant.

In the women's pistol at 25 meters, Laina Pérez from Matanzas obtained a score of 275 in the precision round and in the rapid shot she achieved 291, for a cumulative score of 566 that placed her in 67th place in the rankings. The fight for the medals was won by Frenchwoman Camille Jedrzejfwski, current European monarch.

The French shooter, champion in the 10 meter pistol at the world cup held last May in Baku, has now relegated the German world champion Doreen Vennekamp to second position. The bronze went to Yeji Kim, from South Korea, who achieved a universal record in the Azeri capital.

The fifth day of activities proposes the three-position air rifle qualifying rounds, in which the Cuban Hernández is registered. There will also be shooting in the qualifying phase of the 10-meter air pistol, with Laina among the candidates to make the cut.

To date, China leads the medal table with three titles and two bronze medals, followed by France in possession of a scepter. South Korea, with a silver and a bronze metal, rests on the third step.
