June full of competitions for Cuban athletics

Havana, June 7 (ACN)-- Four other competitions were confirmed for Cuban athletics on the summer tour, as part of the preparation for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The national commission of that sport assured the press that the first of these events will be on June 12 in the Spanish town of Guadalajara, where Yoandys Lescay, in the 400 meter dash (m/p), and the Pan American champion from Santiago will run. of Chile 2023, Yunisleidys de la Caridad García, in the 100 m/p.

Long jumpers Maikel Vidal and Hayla González are also registered, with the aim of achieving marks to qualify for the summer event.

Then on the 16th of the same month there will be the presence of Cuban athletes at the Troyes Aube International Athletics Meeting, in France.

Lescay and Yunisledys will repeat there, who will be joined by Roxana Gómez (400 m/p), Rose Mary Almanza and Daily Cooper (800 m/p) and the recent national hectometer record holder Shainer Reginfo (100 m/p).

Almanza, already with a secure ticket to Paris 2024, will also be at the José Antonio Peña de Ordizia Rally on the 22nd, in Spain.

For its part, on the 23rd the actions will return to Guadalajara with the Puma Athletics Meeting, a competition in which there will be four triple jumpers led by Leyanis Pérez and Lázaro Mártinez, who have competed with very good results in the 2024 Diamond League.

They, along with Liadagmis Povea and Cristian Nápoles, are already classified for the upcoming tournament under the five rings in the French capital.

Reginfo and the sprinters Reinaldo Espinosa and Harlyn Pérez are also among those registered.

The group is completed by Lescay, Cooper, Almanza, Yunisleidys, Vidal and Hayla, as well as long jumpers Aniel Molina and Alejandro Parada, and discus thrower Silinda Morales.

In the case of the men's 4x100 m/p relay – made up of Reginfo, Espinosa, Pérez and Lescay –, they will have a new opportunity to achieve the mark that qualifies them for Paris.

So far, Cuba has nine qualifiers for Olympic athletics based on its records.
