The Cuban leaders of this martial art held their first training session, after the technical meeting of the discipline, accompanied by José Cedeño, general director of Physical Education and sports for all, and Eric Gutiérrez, national head of recreation at Inder.
The most experienced of the group, Rafael Alonso Sánchez, and René Álvarez, will be the debutants this Thursday, and on Friday Hiroshi Torres, Ricardo Ortega and Leandro Cordero will compete, all eager to exhibit their skills in the different tests with sword, sabers and cuffs.
Cuba will also have a presence in basketball and physical football, the new variant that mixes electronic games and physical exercises, and which are inserted this time in the extensive program of 27 sports.
The participation of almost 5,000 athletes from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, members of the Brics economic group, as well as more than 60 invited nations, is expected to participate.
