Paris, June 26 (PL) - The Olympic flame that will illuminate the Paris-2024 games from July 26 continued in the department of Doubs its journey through eastern France.

After Sunday's passage through the alpine Haute-Savoie and yesterday's break, the torch relay started early in the morning in the commune of Pontarlier, in the hands of Quentin Fillon Maillet, double gold medalist in biathlon at the Beijing-2022 Winter Olympics, an event in which he also won three silver medals.

Another winter Olympic gold medalist, skier Fabrice Guy, was the protagonist of the transfer of the flame in the town of Tremplin de Chaux-Neuve.

On the way of the Olympic flame that travels 12,000 kilometers on Gallic soil are also the communes of Maiche, Étalans, Montbéliard and Baume-les-Dames, with the closing scheduled for late afternoon in the departmental capital Besançon.

Tomorrow, the torch will continue to the east of the country, in the historic region of Alsace, where the cauldron will burn in the beautiful city of Strasbourg.

The journey of the flame, which left Olympia in April, birthplace of the modern games, will cover more than 400 territories in France until it arrives near the Seine River on July 26 for the inauguration of the world's greatest sporting festival.
