Industriales and Sancti Spíritus still alive in quarterfinal playoffs

Havana, Jul 4 (JIT) - Leones de Industriales and Gallos de Sancti Spíritus came out on top in the fifth games of their respective crossings, and remained alive in the quarterfinals of the National Baseball Series.

At the Latin American Stadium, the Industriales beat Santiago de Cuba 6x4 and place the duel 3-2, still in favor of the Santiago team.

The game featured a home run by former major leaguer Yasmani Tomás.

Meanwhile, the Gallos espirituanos counted on two excellent relief pitchers to defeat Pinar del Río 3x1.

The usual middle reliever Yankiel Mauri, who for 7.0 innings limited the offensive spending of the powerful Vegueros de Pinar to three hits, opened the game. And to his rescue came the closer Yanielkis Duardo to take charge of the last two chapters, in which he allowed just one hit, to earn his tenth save of the season.

Finally, Matanzas defeated Granma 4x1, with the second victory of the reinstated left-hander Yoanni Yera and the third rescue of Noelvis Entenza.

On offense, Adrián Pérez, who hit 4-2, with a triple and a RBI, was outstanding for the Cocodrilos.
