Argentina vs Canada

Havana, July 10 (RHC) - Argentina won again against Canada, this time in the semi-finals of the Copa America 2024 in the United States.

Again with a score of 2-0, again setting a rule to measure the distances between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF, because the Albiceleste did not have to make much effort to bring danger to the door of Maxime Crépeau.

Jesse Marsch, coach of the Canadians, played a physical game, with no tactical finesse, with the clear idea of frantically going up as close as possible to the goal defended by Emiliano Martinez and then trying to score a goal.

Scaloni did not despair and withstood the onslaught of Alphonso Davies, Jacob Shaffelburg and Jonathan David, but they were all finding their powder wet, even Cyle Larin, who could not get a clear shot on target.

It was not long before Julián Álvarez's "sledgehammer" came after Rodrigo de Paul, unable to cross the sea of red legs, sent a long ball into the back of the Canadian defence.

The North Americans' defence staged a déjà vu of the first match: two centre-backs too far apart, with a highway to run in the middle, and as slow as they could be. They were barely able to watch as La Araña "stung" them to blacken their hopes of a good result.

Just after the break they were gifted the second goal, on Messi's account, who stole it from Enzo Fernandez for more delight, and with the complicity of the Canadian defence who never realised that if they had gone out, La Pulga would have been offside.

One blooper after another, one wanting and not being able to, the other wanting and not being able to, the cat and mouse game to the end. Argentina reached another consecutive Copa America final, where they will surely play football.
