Paris, July 29 (PL) - In a duel of legends, the Serbian Novak Djokovic overcame today by 6-1 and 6-4 the Spanish Rafael Nadal and reached the third round of the tennis tournament of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

In the most repeated match in the history of the sport, Djokovic defeated his most iconic rival, on the very same Phillipe Chatrier court, Nadal's home, and put the historic clash between the two at 31-29.

This duel has now been repeated 11 times on the Chatrier clay, with three victories for Djokovic and eight for the Iberian, unanimously considered the best player of all time on clay courts.

It is worth remembering that the 37-year-old Serbian tennis player has won every title ever won on the top-level international circuit, with the exception of the Olympic title.

In his next appearance on his way to Olympic glory, the Balkan player will face the winner of the match between Italian Matteo Arnaldi and German Dominik Koepfer.
