Erislandy Alvarez
Havana, July 29 (RHC) - Boxer Erislandy Alvarez won his second boxing match at the Paris-2024 Olympic Games on Monday and advanced to the quarterfinal round.
Alvarez, making his Olympic debut, deserved the decision of the five officials against Algeria's Jugurtha Ait Bekka.
The vote was wide and all five judges saw him win all three rounds (four 30-27 and the other 30-26).
Erislandy's next fight will be next Thursday.
Two other Cubans will step into the Olympic ring on Tuesday: two-time Olympic champion Arlen Lopez (80 kg) and Alejandro Claro (51).
