Paris, Aug 6 (ACN) Cuban freestyle gladiator Yusneylis Guzman, 50 kilograms (kg), qualified today to the semifinals of her division in the wrestling of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Guzman, champion of the Pan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023, won in the quarterfinals by technical superiority 10-0 to the Lithuanian Gabija Dilyte.

With two back passes and three off-balances, the petite Cuban wrestler was great on the mat to advance to the discussion of the medals in that weight.

Earlier, in her debut, the Cuban athlete beat the Turkish Evin Demirhan 7-6, in a difficult bout in the round of 16, according to the official website of the competition.

In a tense duel that was decided in the final seconds, both gladiators were at times up on the scoreboard, and in the last action Guzman scored two valuable points that gave her the victory.

Demirhan had a 6-5 advantage at the end of the duel, but in a counterattack she was surprised, and after a review by the judges it was determined that the Cuban's projection was valid.

After 12:00 noon in Cuba, Guzman will fight again for the pass to the title match, where she will compete against Vinesh Vinesh, from India.
