Paris, Aug 8 (ACN) Cuban Greco-Roman gladiator Luis Orta, 67 kilograms (m), Olympic champion of Tokyo 2020, advanced today to the discussion of the bronze medal in the wrestling competition in the summer event of Paris 2024.

Orta, the 60 kg champion in the Japanese capital, won the repechage with a score of 9-0 by technical superiority (ST) against Ishak Ghaiou, from Algeria, whom he defeated in a resounding manner.

In that duel, the Cuban wrestler, gold medalist in the World Championship of Belgrade 2023, applied a four-point projection to his rival to open the way to victory.

After noon (Cuba time), he will go to the mat again at the Campo de Marte arena in search of one of the bronze medals in his division, in a match in which he will face Slavik Galstyan, from Armenia, according to the official website of the event.

This Wednesday, Orta made his debut with an 8-0 win by ST against Kyotaro Sogabe, from Japan, to advance to the quarterfinals, instance in which he lost 0-9 by ST against Saeid Esmaeili, from Iran, for the pass to the semifinals.
