The teams from Mayabeque, Havana, Sancti Spiritus, Ciego de Avila, Santiago de Cuba, Guantanamo and the local team are taking part in the competition.
The first game of the tournament was a close 2-0 (5-4, 5-4) victory for the host team against the Mayabeque team.
In this tournament, the participation of three players who were proclaimed world champions in the youth category (U-18 years) in Ankara, Turkey 2023 stands out. They are the host Josué Gutiérrez, as well as Havana's Amanda Díaz and Adis Yudith Espinel.
"Here we will have our eyes set fundamentally on the kids between the ages of 12 to 16, and also on other talents who recently turned 17," commented in exclusive interview with JIT the head coach of baseball5 in Cuba, Eros Bernal.
"We will follow those athletes who foresee a promising future, who have the talent to compete as juniors and have the permissible age to be part of the national pre-selection in 2025," said the executive.
