Erislandy Alvarez

Havana, Aug 26 (JIT) - The International Boxing Association (IBA) informed that Cubans Erislandy Alvarez and Arlen Lopez will have other opponents in the Night of Champions this Tuesday at the Havana Sports City, and not those initially announced.

Alvarez, Olympic champion in Paris 2024 at 63.5 kg, will not fight with Uruguayan Eduardo Estela, whose place will be taken by Colombian Jose Ignacio Muñoz, in one of the four six-round bouts scheduled for the poster that will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Arlen, double Olympic champion and bronze medalist in the French capital, will face Dominican Jose Luis Tejeda, who was called in to replace Belarusian Aliaksei Alfiorau for a 10-round bout for the 80 kg IBA world belt.

The evening will add another 10-round fight for the IBA world belt at 92 kilos between Cuban star Julio Cesar La Cruz, double Olympic king and five-time world champion, against Uzbekistan's Madiyar Saydrakhimov, whom he defeated in two previous bouts.

The Cuban presence will be completed with the consecrated Roniel Iglesias (67 kg), and Lázaro Álvarez (63.5 kg), and the world runner-up Saidel Horta (57 kg).

The public weigh-in is scheduled for this Tuesday, after a master class at the Central Park, animated by 150 pairs of children and young pugilists.
