Welcome to the U12 baseball team
Havana, September 1 (JIT) - The Cuban U-12 baseball team, winner of an invitational tournament held in the Dominican Republic, returned early Sunday to the homeland, where it was received by authorities of that discipline and the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder).
Upon welcoming them at the José Martí International Airport, the president of the Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation (FCBS), Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, congratulated players and coaches for the result, applauded by the followers of the national sport.
"I urge them to continue their preparation to face the Pan American championship of the category to be held in October in Panama, which will offer three places for the world championship in China next year," said the national commissioner.
Luis Brougthon Madrigal, director of Economy and Logistics of Inder; Reynier Olivera Matos, director of the Ramal School of that organization, and Luis Daniel del Risco, member of the FCBS, were also present at the capital's air terminal with their families.
The Cubans won the title undefeated, with a 9x2 win over the Venezuelan team, after defeating Ecuador, Aruba, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the United States.
Asnel Torres and Alfredo Despaigne received special trophies, and Rainel Delgado was the Most Valuable Player of the final.
