Marileidy Paulino praises two Cuban sports legends

Marileidy, Mijaín, and Omara

Havana, Sept 19 (RHC).- Dominican Marileidy Paulino, one of the stars of world athletics, praised the sports careers of Cuban sports stars Mijaín López and Omara Durand and considered them "examples" to follow.

"The best in the world, full of Olympic medals, but their humility stands out among the medals." "Examples," posted on one of her official Facebook profiles, and shared images of the two Cuban sports legends.

"16 Olympic gold medals between the two of them," stressed the also triple Diamond League champion, whose trainer and physiotherapist are Cuban, shows great empathy with Cuba's athletes and has declared to feel very comfortable during her visits to the island.

Mijaín López (wrestling) and Omara Durand (para-athletics) put an end to their brilliant careers after Paris-2024, where they enlarged their stories, the former winning his fifth consecutive gold, and the latter raising to 11 his harvest of titles in Paralympic Games.

"She maintains a good friendship with both of them. They have shared in several PanamSport activities and get along very well," the runner's coach, Yaseen Pérez Gómez, told Radio Habana Cuba.

In addition to being one of the icons of Dominican sport, Marileidy is a lover of social networks, in which she recreates passages of her career, denounces injustices such as racism and gender violence, supports the disadvantaged, expresses her religious faith and shares messages full of humanism.
