Cuban taekwondoka wins in Asunción 2025 qualifiers

Havana, Sept 23 (JIT) - Cuban Elianet Crespo won the gold medal in Kyorugui in the +67 kilograms division at the Panam II U-22 Taekwondo Series in Lima, Peru.

In the qualifying event for the Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025, the Antillean surpassed her performance in the first edition of this year in Queretaro, Mexico, where she placed third.

Also competing for Cuba in the Peruvian event was Carlos Manuel Robles (68 kg), who, after winning his first challenge, lost in the second, Ivan Fernandez, president of the Cuban Taekwondo Federation, told JIT.

Cuba will host the third and final qualifier of this sport for the aforementioned 2025 event in the Paraguayan capital.

"It is an honor and a recognition to the Cuban taekwondo family to organize this phase here, which will take place during the III Havana Taekwondo Open, with G1 category," expressed the executive.

The Junior Pan American Games will be held from July 11 to 20 next year and will gather almost 4,000 athletes from 41 countries, who will compete in 31 sports.
