Havana, Oct 7 (JIT) - The first two Cuban prizes in the IV Special Olympics Latin American Games of Asuncion 2024, in Paraguay, came today in the powerlifting modality.

Danny Madrigal won the leg strength title among girls of 63 kilograms, shortly after his teammate Yariel Ramirez celebrated the conquest of the silver medal in similar modality for boys.

Both results were enjoyed to the fullest by the members of the small delegation of the island, which this Saturday was also present in the table tennis skills trials.

Yoel Rodriguez, national director of Physical Education of Inder, told JIT that the purpose of these evaluations is to group the players so that they can compete according to their level.

Camila Pavón, Sheyla Hernández, and Vladimir Ernesto Rodríguez appear as the Cuban candidates to fight for medals in that sport.

The Special Olympics Movement, which promotes inclusion through sports, gathers competitors with intellectual disabilities, while promoting educational and cultural actions for the integral formation of its participants.
