Beach volleyball winners

Havana, Oct 10 (ACN) The Cuban duo of Damian Gomez and Eblis Veranes won the silver medal and Maykelin Drik and Mileidy Paret the bronze medal in the U23 North, Central America and Caribbean Tour (Norceca) beach volleyball tournament in Punta Cana.

With their performances, the young Cuban pairs qualified for the II Junior Pan American Games of Asuncion 2025.

Gómez and Veranes won the subtitle after losing in the final to the US duo Keeter-Barnes (18-21 and 18-21), thus concluding the tournament with five wins and one setback.

Maykelin and Mileidy also won their place in the 2025 junior multisport event with five wins and one setback, the latter in the semifinals, a result that sent them to the bronze medal.

For the third place, they overcame Costa Rica's Molina-Aguilar in a hard-fought match that lasted three sets (2-1).

In the semis they lost 0-2 against the U.S. champions Martinez-Connor.

The other two tickets in the men's tournament went to the bronze medalists, Salvadorans Guardado-Guardado and Dominicans Wilmore-Maldonado, who finished in fourth place.

In the women's tournament, the places went to the Americans (gold), Dominicans (silver), Cubans (bronze), and Costa Ricans (fourth place).

The U23 tournament in Punta Cana had the participation of 31 pairs, 16 men and 15 women.
