Ruth Chepngetich wins Chicago Marathon with a new record

Chicago, USA, Oct 14 (PL) Kenyan Ruth Chepngetich won her third title in the Chicago Marathon, with a new record.

Chepngetich, who had won this competition in 2021 and 2022, covered the distance in two hours, nine minutes and 56 seconds, to set a new record and also become the first woman to run under 2:10.00.

In second and third position finished the Ethiopian Sutume Kebede (2:17.32) and the also Kenyan Irine Cheptai (2:17.52), in that order.

Among the men, Kenyan John Korir won the competition with a time of 2:02:43 hours, ahead of Ethiopian Huseydin Mohamed Esa (2:04:39) and Kenyan Amos Kipruto (2:04:50), in that order.

This 46th edition of the Chicago Marathon, with start and finish line in Grant Park, was attended by more than 50 thousand athletes in various categories.
