Andy Pereira and Jorge Moisés

Havana, Oct 17 (RHC) - After a controversial match, marked by excellent plays from both sides, Cubans Andy Pereira and Jorge Moises Campos secured the silver medal in the men's doubles event at the San Salvador 2024 Pan American Table Tennis Championship.

The Island duo defeated 3-1 the Canadian duo of Edward Ly and Simone Martin, with scores of 8-11, 13-11, 11-6, and 11-6 that reflect what happened in the hall of the Polideportivo de Ciudad Merliot, but only in cold numbers.

The outcome turned out to be much more complex, Cuban federation president Bárbaro Oliva told JIT. Amid protests from the northerners, the Cubans had to pull out the “extra” to reverse the course of a game they came close to conceding.

Between Friday and Sunday there will be contests in the team events. In the men's segment Cuba will present Andy and Jorge Moises -in case of a satisfactory recovery-, to which Adrian Perez and Liván Martinez will join.

In addition to Daniela and Estela, the women's lineup will include Rosalba Aguiar and Karla Pérez.
