Havana, Nov 4 (RHC) - Cuban Miguel Angel Lopez, one of the figures of world volleyball, leads the average efficiency in the SV Volleyball League of Japan, where he debuts this season after shining for several years in the Sada Cruzeiro of Brazil.
With almost 59 percent of effectiveness (58.6) in the eight matches played, the Osaka Bluteon - formerly Panasonic Panthers - attacker leads the league in effectiveness, ahead of his teammate and Japan national teammate, Yuji Nishida (55.9).
Known in the volleyball world as "the Flying Cuban", the versatile 27-year-old player stood out over the weekend in his club's last two matches, scoring 35 points against Nippon Sakai, 21 in the first, won by his club in four sets, and 14 in the second, which ended with a 3-0 sweep and deserved the distinction of Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The point-receiver arrived this season in the Japan League after several years shining in the Brazilian Sada Cruzeiro, where he became a reference and won several titles, including a Club World Cup and several individual trophies.
His team is first in the Japanese standings at 7-1, level with Jtekt Aichi.
