Erislandy Alvarez

Havana, Nov 11 (GRA) - Paris 2024 Olympic champion Erislandy Alvarez (63.5 kg) will close the year of his consecration in the professional World Cup of the International Boxing Association on November 16 in Beijing, China.

In that world championship fight, the Viking from Cienfuegos could cross gloves with the French Sofiane Oumiha, which would reedit the final of the fight under the five rings. It would be the third confrontation between the two, all of them at the top, since the first one took place in the 2023 World Championship, in which the Frenchman came out victorious.

According to a Prensa Latina dispatch, Álvarez is training at the Holveín Quesada National School, guided by his coach Robinson Poll and the head of the technical team, Rolando Acebal.

As a professional, Erislandy Álvarez has four wins without setbacks, and the last of his victories was at the Night of Champions in Havana, last August 24, when he defeated Colombian José Muñoz.

"We are preparing ourselves physically and mentally, as we always do. We are already sparring with several of my teammates, who help me in training," he told PL.

In Beijing "we have the first fight with the athlete from Morocco, then we will see the draw. But yes, it is almost certain that I will have to face Oumiha again, and now it will be ten rounds," he specified.
