The Americans, winners of the silver medal in the first edition in 2015, had defeated their rivals the day before in the last game of the super round, after falling in their group stage duel.

In Sunday's game, they scored a pair of runs in the third episode with no hits to take a lead that they defended until the end.

Starter Mario Sanchez lost his lookout by conceding three tickets and allowing a sacrifice fly by Carson Williams and his replacement Oddanier Mosqueda walked a batter and hit another with the angles full.

Another pair of runs in the sixth act, scored by reliever Nivaldo Pérez, brought Mike Scioscia's team closer to the podium, which enjoyed a great performance that day by starter Casey Lawrence.

The 37-year-old veteran, who has four seasons of experience in the Major Leagues, completely dominated his opponents, walking two-thirds of the game with four hits allowed and seven strikeouts to score the important victory.

After his outing, his team continued to produce and made two hits in the eighth inning thanks to a double by Williams on a delivery by Alfredo Zarraga.

Omar Lopez's disciples opened the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning with a run scored by Anthony Gose on a sacrifice fly by Alexi Amatista, but Dan Altavilla got the last four outs, three of them with a strikeout, to put an end to the game.
