Julio César La Cruz
Havana, Dec 11 (JIT) - Cuban boxing star Julio Cesar La Cruz traveled on Tuesday to Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, where he will defend the World Boxing Association's international gold belt in the super cruiserweight division.
The double Olympic champion will face Colombian Jeison Troncoso next Saturday to retain the title he won a year ago when he defeated Nigerian Austine Nnamdi in 10 rounds in Conakry, Guinea's main city.
The fight, scheduled for the same number of rounds, will place the five-time world champion against a man with a record of 10 wins and one loss in professional circuits, an area in which he is undefeated in three appearances.
Called K.O. a las Drogas (K.O. to Drugs), the event will mark the Cuban's return to competitive activity after winning the International Boxing Association's world professional crown at the Night of Champions held at the end of August in Havana.
Then he repeated his dominance over Uzbekistan's Madiyar Saydrakhimov in a 10-round bout in a 6-0 sweep signed by Domadores de Cuba in front of thousands of fans who made the party at the Ciudad Deportiva.
