Recognition to outstanding baseball players

Havana, Dec 29 (ACN) The Cuban Baseball and Softball Federation (FCBS) recognized the most outstanding baseball players in different categories during the year.

The Baseball5 team was highlighted this Saturday as the most outstanding, thanks to its titles at the Pan American Games in Barranquilla and the World Championship in Hong Kong, which positioned it as the world leader.

The individual awards in this sport went to Haila González and Briandy Molina, chosen as the most valuable players of the world event, in addition to Orlando Amador and Chaquira Aspiazú, members of the team.

The crown won by the baseball team for the blind in the United Kingdom was chosen as the event of the year, which represented a historic milestone for the largest of the Antilles, with special recognition for athletes Maikel Merino and Yaniet Pérez.

In the elite category, position players Alfredo Despaigne, Rafael Viñales, Roberto Baldoquín, Yoelkis Guibert, Andy Vargas and pitchers Yoanni Yera, Geonel Gutiérrez, and Yankiel Mauri stood out for their performances in the 63rd edition of the domestic camp and in the Premier 12 tournament.

In addition, Yosvani Alarcón and José Amaury Noroña were honored for their imprint in the national campaign.

In the U-12 category, Fidel Fabián Pérez, Daiber Barrera, and Humberto Alfonso shone, while in the schoolboys, Carlos Sandy, who stood out with his achievements in the II Caribbean Cup, along with Cristian González and José Junior Muñiz.

César Morales, Cristian Rojas, and Jonathan Moreno, with great performances in the Pan American Championship of the category, stood out in the juniors.

Finally, among those hired in foreign leagues, awards were given to Liván Moinelo and Raidel Martínez, leaders in the Japanese League in effectiveness and games saved, respectively, and to Ariel Martínez, outstanding in the same Asian circuit.
