Antillean Union Baseball Cup announced
San Juan, Jan 14 (PL) Today, the mayor of the Puerto Rican municipality of Aguadilla, Julio Roldán Concepción, announced the celebration of the Antillean Baseball Cup with the presence of a local team and the Cuban and Dominican Republic teams.
The triangular tournament, scheduled for February 21-23, will be held on the 250th anniversary of the founding of Aguadilla, known as “The Garden of the Atlantic”.
Present at the tournament presentation were Carlos Príncipe, vice-president of the Puerto Rico Baseball Federation, and Juan Núñez, head of the Puerto Rican entity.
Carlos Delgado, a player who played 17 seasons in the American Major Leagues, where he hit 473 home runs, also attended the presentation as director of the Puerto Rican team.
The event, which will be played at the Canena Márquez Stadium, "will attract thousands of fans of this sport and will reaffirm the city's commitment to the organization of high-level international activities, which have a significant impact on sports, culture, gastronomy, and the economy," said the mayor.
